Minister's Message

If you are reading this message for the first time you may not be familiar with "Unity" or with "Unity Church in Edgewood".  That is perfectly understandable because people often say that Unity is the best kept secret on the planet.  But my friend, you have found us and it may be helpful for you to know who we are and why people who find us often feel as though they have come home at last. 

     Not everyone is comfortable with our approach to Christianity because we not only believe IN Jesus and his spiritual mastery, we actually believe him.  We believe that our path is to follow his teachings and practice them in our daily life.  As he said in John 12 "You can do the things I do and even greater things because I go to the Father".  We believe that Jesus was not the exception but rather the example, and that we too can experience our spiritual mastery by following his example.  Can you imagine life lived from a deep and abiding faith and understanding of our spiritual nature.  To know that we are not born in sin, but in possibility.  The possibility of bringing Heaven on Earth.  And we do so when we "Do good to those who persecute us", when we "Love our enemies", when we live in compassion and do the work we are here to do.

     Unity was founded in 1889 by Charles and Myrtle Fillmore with the purpose of praying for those in need of healing and to educate people about deeper spiritual truths and metaphysical meanings in scripture.  One of Unity's most well known publications is the Metaphysical Bible Dictionary compiled by Charles Fillmore.  This book takes all of the proper nouns in the Bible and gives the Metaphysical Meaning as well as the traditional.  This book helps us see the Bible in a new light as a story of our Journey from the darkness into the light.  It is the human journey to spiritual awakening.  We learn practical ways of living a spiritual life and following a spiritual path. 

     Unity accepts everyone in love regardless of ethnic background or sexual orientation.  We believe we are all children of a loving God, created to bring blessings to this earthly experience.  You will find us to be supportive of you as a unique creation of God, here to do a blessed work.  So if you are looking for a spiritual path that loves, supports you and affirms you without judgment then you will love being in Unity.  We love and bless you and behold the light of the Christ presence shines in you.  Namaste'
