Youth & Family

Youth and Family Ministry

In Unity, we affirm the divinity within each child, and seek to encourage their awareness and expression of the Christ light within them.

Our Sunday morning children and teen blessing reflects our commitment to unconditional love and the spiritual empowerment of our youth:

"God loves you and accepts you just the way you are, and
we love you and accept you just the way you are."

What Unity Teaches Our Children: Six Basic Truths

1)  God is love, the only true power, always present in everyone and everything.

2)  We are all children of God, created by God in God's image for the purpose of expressing divine love.

3)  Jesus Christ is God's perfect expression of divine love for humankind, expressed through a man.

4)  The same Spirit that lives in Jesus Christ lives in each one of us, making God's power and love available to us always.

5)  We learn about the powerful Spirit of God's love when we talk to God in prayer, when we listen to God in silent meditation, and when we study God's laws in the Bible.

6)  We make use of God's power by living in harmony with God's laws, letting the spirit of love direct our every thought, word, and action.

Youth Education Groups

Unitots Age Group Infant - 3

Love, storytelling and play for the youngest members of our Unity family.

Children's Ministry Age Group 3 - 10

Association of Unity Churches based curriculum. Each two week lesson focuses on one theme. Our empowerment team ties the lessons to the theme using guidance from the curriculum. They are not bound to the lesson book; it serves as a guideline. The intent is not to "finish a lesson", but to help children discover and express the Christ that is in all of us , and assure them of God's ever-present love using songs, prayers, stories, arts and crafts, role playing and creative play.

Uniteens Age Group 11 - 13

Association of Unity Churches based curriculum. Facilitator helps guide young teens in exploring their spiritual beliefs, develop a stronger connection with God and learn how to use Truth principles in everyday life using songs, prayers, some guided meditation, group discussion, arts and crafts projects, and social outings. The curriculum is used as a guide. The program will change and develop based on the interests and needs of the group.

Y.O.U. Age Group 14 - 18

Some of the Y.O.U. meetings are curriculum based lessons, facilitated by a sponsor(s). This group also takes turns planning and facilitating their own lessons. As with the Uniteens, they also are exploring their spiritual beliefs, connecting with God, and learning to use Unity Truth principles in everyday life using music, prayers, guided meditation, group discussion, arts and crafts, social outings and coordinating community projects. They are also responsible for their own fundraising for Unity national and regional Y.O.U. retreats. There is a great measure of love and respect in this group; they are very supportive of and empowering of each other. this program also changes and develops based on the needs of the group.

During 10:30 a.m. Sunday Worship Service, programs for children (infants through 10 years old) are available. Our Uniteens group (ages 11 - 13) and our Youth of Unity (Y.O.U. - ages 14 - 18) also meet with their sponsors at 10:30 a.m. Our blessings and thanks to all teachers, leaders, and sponsors!
